A woman was struck by a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu just before midnight, and died Sunday.
The crash was on Pacific Coast Highway near Busch Drive, at Zuma Beach. Deputies were dispatched to the scene about 11:55 p.m. Saturday, according to a watch commander at the sheriff’s Lost Hills/Malibu station.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries, according to the coroner’s office. No name was immediately released, and her gender was originally specified as male by a sheriff’s deputy.
She was the second fatality on PCH near Busch in the past two years, according to records kept by journalists. Last year, a man identified as a transient was killed there as he jaywalked near the traffic signal to reach a liquor store.
Three people have been killed on PCH in western Malibu this month: a motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a car making a U-turn at Leo Carrillo Beach on March 4, and on March 6 a man was killed in a a single-vehicle rollover crash on a long straightaway near Decker Canyon Road.
