Doctors were unable to save a woman in her 60s, who was riding a skateboard across Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach when she was hit by an SUV and then run over by a minivan, authorities said Friday.
The woman was riding south across PCH at Lime Avenue about 6:40 p.m. Thursday when she was hit by an eastbound 1991 Nissan Pathfinder, according to Long Beach police. The impact threw her into the path of an eastbound 2005 Toyota Sienna, which ran her over.
The minivan driver, a 62-year-old Long Beach woman, and the 55-year-old Long Beach man who was behind the wheel of the Nissan both stopped, cooperated with investigators and were released, police said.
The woman’s name was being withheld pending notification of her next-of- kin, according to coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
