The death of a pedestrian on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach was under investigation Sunday after the victim was struck and killed by a Chrysler sedan.
The deadly incident took place in the dark just before 9 p.m. Friday at PCH and Myrtle Avenue, according to Long Beach Police.
A 2010 Chrysler 300 driven by a 58-year-old Cypress man struck a man who appeared to be in his mid-to-late 20s who was trying to cross PCH and was not in a crosswalk, police said.
The Chrysler driver stopped and immediately called police and remained on the scene to cooperate with officers, police said.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries, police said. No identification was found on him.
Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call Det. David Lauro at (562) 570-7355.
There was no immediate word if the victim had been walking on a sidewalk or in the roadway, nor what caused the deadly incident.
