Caltrans officials said both roads linking Los Angeles to southern Ventura County will see overnight road work in the next weeks.
The Ventura (101) will see complete freeway closures for new bridge construction in Calabasas, and Pacific Coast Highway (state Route 1) will have lane closures for pavement marker installation in Santa Monica and Malibu.
The eastbound 101 Freeway will be closed at Lost Hills Road between midnight and 5 a.m. on Thursday and Friday mornings.
Northbound lanes will be closed at the same location the following week on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Caltrans spokesman Michael Comeaux.
Motorists can detour onto Agoura Road, which parallels the freeway, between Las Virgenes Road to the east and Liberty Canyon Road to the west. But that two-lane road can be expected to bear heavy traffic.
Workers will be placing girders across the freeway, part of a $24 million project.
On a parallel strip of highway, crews will be working overnights this week in Malibu, Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica to reinstall pavement marking and stripes.
At least one lane will remain open in both directions as crews move up and down PCH between Cross Creek Road in Malibu to the McClure Tunnel in Santa Monica, Caltrans officials said.
Work on PCH will be east of Topanga Canyon Boulevard the first two nights of the week, then out west in the Malibu section starting at midweek.
Route 1 is closed to large trucks through Malibu.
